Photo policy

The DCC recognises that many members wish to take photographs of club activities and events, and then share them more widely, for example on social media. The club also recognises that since most club activities take place in public settings there is nothing we can do to prevent non-members taking photographs of our events.

Accordingly, the club does not wish to place material restrictions on members taking photographs at club events. However, we would ask:

  • that members do not take any photographs inside the DWSC buildings or compound, unless for official club or centre business
  • that members do not take any photographs during club pool sessions at the Deben Leisure Centre pool, except with the approval of the senior coach or club official at the session
  • that members respect each others privacy, and do not take any photographs which include any other member who has expressed a desire not to be photographed

Anyone who breaches any of these restrictions should be reported to the club committee. The committee is likely to consider photographing another member against their stated wishes as harassment, which would be a clear and significant breach of the club’s code of conduct and which could trigger the formal disciplinary process.

Anyone who does not wish to be photographed:

  • should make that known to any other member who is taking photographs
  • may inform the leader-in-charge of a paddle, so that they can make a formal announcement to that effect
  • may inform any committee member, if they wish to have a confidential discussion about this

On a member’s request, the club will remove any photograph of that member from its official media (website, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc.)

We hope that all members will be able to act reasonably and considerately so that no issues arise.
